Built for
Basketball.

Most gyms offer general fitness. From Zero offers sport-specific strength and conditioning designed around what basketball actually demands — explosive first steps, vertical jump, lateral quickness, the ability to absorb contact, and the conditioning to back it up for four quarters.

Every program starts with a VALD ForceDecks assessment — force plate testing that measures your power output, asymmetries, and athletic deficits with data. You're not guessing what to work on. You know.

Programs are built individually, not recycled. Whether you're a junior just starting out, a BigV player pushing for the next level, or a senior athlete managing a heavy schedule — the programming fits you, your season, and your goals.

The Process

How It Works

No guesswork, no cookie-cutter programs. Every athlete goes through the same four-step process.

01
Assessment

VALD ForceDecks testing establishes your baseline — vertical jump, power output, left-right asymmetries, and key athletic metrics. This is your starting point.

02
Programming

Based on your results, goals, position, and season phase, we build an individual program. In-season looks different to off-season. Pre-game looks different to recovery day.

03
Training

Sessions run at our Keilor Park facility. Coaching is hands-on — we're not a hands-off gym where you figure it out alone. Technique, load, and intensity are coached every session.

04
Retest & Progress

Regular VALD retesting tracks your progress with data. You can see exactly how much your power, speed, and symmetry have improved — not just feel it.

Who It's For

Is This
For You?

01
Junior Players (12–17)

Build the physical foundation early. Juniors who train with proper strength programming develop faster, get injured less, and arrive at senior basketball ahead of their peers.

02
Competitive Club Players

BigV, NBL1, state leagues — if you're competing at a high level, your physical preparation needs to match. We build programs around your competition schedule.

03
College-Pathway Athletes

US college coaches recruit athleticism. If you're pursuing a college scholarship, your VALD numbers, vertical, and physical profile matter. We build athletes who get recruited.

04
Returning from Injury

Coming back from a knee, ankle, or back issue? Our physio-integrated approach means your S&C programming works alongside your rehabilitation, not against it.

05
Senior & Adult Players

Still competing and want to feel stronger, move better, and last longer on the court? Programs for adult players account for recovery, lifestyle load, and longevity.

06
Multi-Sport Athletes

AFL, soccer, netball, rugby — the athletic qualities we develop transfer across sports. If you want to be a better athlete, this program works regardless of your primary sport.

Common Questions

FAQs

What is basketball strength and conditioning?
Basketball strength and conditioning is sport-specific physical preparation designed to improve the athletic qualities basketball demands — vertical jump, explosive speed, lateral quickness, strength under fatigue, and injury resilience. Unlike general gym training, it's built around the positions, demands, and seasonal structure of basketball.
How old do you need to be to start?
We work with athletes from age 12 and up. For juniors, programming is age-appropriate — focused on movement quality, athletic development, and building the right foundations before adding load. There's no upper age limit for senior athletes.
Do I need to be an elite player?
No. We work with athletes across all levels — from beginners who have never trained in a gym, to BigV and NBL1 players competing at the top of the state competition. The program is built around you, not a template.
Where are you located?
From Zero is based at Warehouse 73/2 Thomsons Road, Keilor Park VIC 3042. We serve athletes from across Melbourne's north and west — Taylors Lakes, Tullamarine, Essendon, Airport West, Moonee Ponds, and beyond.
How many sessions per week do I need?
It depends on your goals, schedule, and season phase. Most athletes train 2–3 times per week during the off-season, and 1–2 times per week in-season to maintain their gains without compromising recovery. We'll recommend what's right for you after your assessment.
What does a session look like?
Sessions typically run 60–75 minutes. They include a structured warm-up, movement preparation, the main strength block (compound and accessory lifts based on your program), and a conditioning or power component depending on the phase. Every session is coached — you're not training alone.
How is this different from a regular gym?
A regular gym gives you equipment. From Zero gives you a program, a coach, and data. Your training is built around basketball specifically, tested with VALD force plates, and adjusted based on your progress. The environment is also sport-focused — you're training alongside other athletes with the same mindset.
