Australia to
US College.

Australian basketball talent is in demand in the US. But talent alone doesn't get you recruited — the right exposure, the right data, and the right relationships do. Most Australian athletes who miss out on college opportunities don't lack the ability. They lack the pathway.

From Zero has been building that pathway for over a decade. With coaching experience across Australia and China, direct relationships with US college coaches, and VALD athletic testing data to back every athlete's physical profile, we give Australian players a genuine shot at earning a college scholarship.

This isn't a recruiting agency that sends generic emails. It's a performance-first approach — we develop the athlete physically, document their progress with data, and present them to programs that are the right fit athletically and academically.

The Process

Your Pathway
To College

Four stages from where you are now to signing with a US college program.

01
Assessment

We evaluate your current athletic level, basketball skills, academic standing, and college goals. VALD testing establishes your physical baseline — the data that college coaches want to see.

02
Development

If physical gaps exist, we address them through our S&C program. College coaches recruit athletes who can compete immediately — we make sure your body is ready for that level.

03
Profile & Outreach

We build your athlete profile — highlight film, VALD testing data, academic record, and references — and conduct targeted outreach to programs that match your level and goals.

04
Placement

We guide you through the offer process, visit decisions, and scholarship negotiation. You don't navigate this alone — we stay involved until you're signed and on campus.

What's Included

What We
Provide

01
VALD Athletic Testing

Force plate and strength testing data that gives college coaches objective proof of your athletic ability — not just highlight clips. Numbers don't lie.

02
Athlete Profile Building

A complete recruitment profile including highlight film guidance, testing data, academic information, and a personalised cover letter for each target program.

03
Targeted Coach Outreach

Direct outreach to US college coaches at programs matched to your ability level, position, and academic requirements. Not mass emails — targeted relationships.

04
S&C Integration

Physical preparation is part of the process. Athletes on the pathway have access to our S&C program to ensure they arrive at college ready to compete from day one.

05
Academic Guidance

Understanding NCAA and NAIA eligibility requirements, GPA standards, SAT/ACT considerations, and what programs look for academically alongside athletic ability.

06
End-to-End Support

From initial assessment to signing day. We stay involved through offers, visits, and decisions — so you're never navigating the US college system alone.

Performance
First.
Always.

Most recruitment services focus on exposure. From Zero focuses on making athletes better first — then getting them seen. The difference is that the athletes we place are ready to compete at the college level, not just good enough to get an offer.

US college coaches trust us because we send them athletes whose data and film match what we say. That reputation is built over years — and it's what gets our athletes taken seriously.

Common Questions

FAQs

Can Australian players get basketball scholarships in the US?
Yes. Australian players are highly regarded in US college basketball — the international game is well respected, and Australian athletes tend to be disciplined, coachable, and physically developed. Both NCAA and NAIA programs actively recruit international players, and Australian athletes have been placing at US colleges for decades across all divisions.
What level do I need to be to get recruited?
It depends on which level you're targeting. D1 programs want elite, NBL1-level athletes or above. D2 and NAIA programs recruit strong state-level players. Junior colleges (JUCO) are a great entry point for players who need development time before moving to a four-year program. We assess your current level honestly and match you to realistic targets.
How old do I need to be to start the process?
The earlier the better — ideally athletes start the development and profile-building process at 15–16, with active recruitment outreach beginning at 16–17. NCAA rules restrict when coaches can contact athletes directly, but building your physical profile and highlight footage early gives you a significant advantage.
What academic requirements are there?
NCAA Division I and II programs have specific eligibility requirements including minimum GPA, core course requirements, and standardised test scores for international students. NAIA requirements are generally more flexible. We guide you through what's required for the programs you're targeting well in advance so academics don't become a barrier.
What is the difference between NCAA, NAIA, and JUCO?
NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) is the largest governing body — D1 is the highest level, D2 offers strong scholarships with a lower profile. NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) governs smaller colleges and often has more flexibility for international students. JUCO (Junior College) is a two-year pathway — athletes compete and then transfer to a four-year program. Each has different scholarship structures, academic requirements, and competition levels.
Do I need to be in Melbourne to use this service?
No. The college pathway service is available to Australian athletes nationally. VALD testing is conducted at our Keilor Park facility for Melbourne-based athletes, and we can coordinate testing for interstate athletes. Profile building and coach outreach can be done remotely.
How long does the process take?
It varies. Some athletes receive offers within a few months of active outreach. Others take 12–18 months of development before they're ready to be marketed to programs. We'll give you an honest timeline based on your current level and goals from the first conversation.
