Who we are

From Zero Athletic Performance ("From Zero", "we", "us") is a basketball performance facility offering basketball training, strength and conditioning, athletic testing, sports physiotherapy and injury rehabilitation in Keilor Park, Melbourne.

We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and health information in line with the Health Records Act 2001 (Vic).

What we collect

We only collect information we need to run our programs and services. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:

  • Contact details such as names, email addresses and phone numbers for athletes and parents or guardians.
  • Athlete details such as age or age group, club, playing level, sport, goals and the program or session you are interested in.
  • Health information such as injuries, medical history, physiotherapy assessments, treatment notes and rehabilitation progress. This is sensitive information and we only collect it with your consent.
  • Performance and testing data such as force plate, strength, jump, speed and other athletic testing results, and training programs and logs.
  • Payment information such as which services you have paid for. Card payments are processed by our payment providers, and we do not store full card details.
  • Website information such as pages visited, device and browser type and how you arrived at our site, collected through cookies and the Meta Pixel.
  • Photos and video taken during sessions, testing and events.

You can deal with us without giving your name for general enquiries, but we need your details to book sessions, deliver training or provide physiotherapy.

How we collect it

  • When you fill in a form on our website, such as a booking, free trial, contact or application form.
  • When you contact us by email, phone, text or social media.
  • In person at our facility, including during training, testing and physiotherapy sessions.
  • Through our training app, when athletes or coaches log workouts and results.
  • From a parent or guardian when the athlete is under 18.
  • From other health practitioners, with your consent, when it is relevant to your care.

How we use it

We use personal information to:

  • respond to enquiries and book sessions, free trials and programs
  • deliver basketball training, strength and conditioning, athletic testing, physiotherapy and rehabilitation
  • write individual programs and track progress over time
  • take payments and manage accounts
  • keep athletes safe, including in an emergency
  • send updates about sessions, programs and events
  • improve our website and measure how our advertising performs
  • meet our legal obligations

We will not use your information for an unrelated purpose without your consent, unless the law allows or requires it.

Children

Many of the athletes we coach are under 18. Where an athlete is a child, we collect their information from, and with the consent of, a parent or guardian. Parents and guardians can ask to see, correct or remove their child's information at any time using the contact details below.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only where needed to provide our services, with:

  • Our coaches and practitioners, who need it to work with you.
  • Service providers who help us run the business, including our website form provider (Formspree), payment providers (such as Square), our athletic testing platform (VALD), the hosting provider for our training app, and email and booking tools. They may only use the information to provide their service to us.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram), through the Meta Pixel, for website analytics and advertising. See Cookies and Meta Pixel.
  • Other health practitioners, clubs or schools, only with your consent.
  • Others where required or allowed by law, such as in an emergency or when a law enforcement body requests it.

Overseas storage

Some of our service providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. When we use these providers, we take reasonable steps to make sure they handle your information in a way that is consistent with Australian privacy law.

Cookies and Meta Pixel

Our website uses cookies and similar technology. This includes the Meta Pixel, which tells Meta when someone visits our site so we can measure our ads and show relevant ads to people who have visited. Meta may combine this with other information it holds about you under its own privacy policy.

Our website also loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your IP address when the page loads.

You can control cookies through your browser settings, and you can manage the ads you see from Meta in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences. Blocking cookies will not stop our website from working.

Photos and video

We sometimes take photos and video at sessions, testing and events and use them on our website and social media. We ask for consent before publishing content where an athlete can be identified, and we ask a parent or guardian for consent for athletes under 18. If you would like a photo or video of you or your child removed, contact us and we will take it down.

Marketing

We may send you news about our programs, sessions and events. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting us. We will never send marketing about other businesses' products.

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including password-protected systems and limiting access to the staff who need it.

We keep information only for as long as we need it, or as long as the law requires. Health records are kept for the periods required by Victorian health records law, which is generally at least 7 years after your last appointment, or until a child turns 25. When we no longer need information, we securely destroy or de-identify it.

Access and correction

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or about your child, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. We will respond within 30 days. In limited cases the law allows us to refuse access, and if so we will explain why.

Complaints

If you have a question or complaint about how we have handled your information, please contact us first and we will respond within 30 days.
